A tank can also hold sludge or a water layer beneath the fuel, so pumping the visible liquid may leave material needing a different removal method.

Transfer equipment and access must suit the contents and vessel, with vapour and spill risks considered. Fuel collection does not automatically include cleaning or decommissioning the tank. We define those tasks separately where needed and keep the waste description aligned with the actual mixtures and residues removed.
Mixed fuel and recovery claims
Misfuelling and water contamination are different problems, so one treatment assumption cannot cover both. We keep the waste description tied to the existing mixture and confirm the receiving arrangement before a collection is described as recovery. Associated tank residues and contaminated packaging also need explicit inclusion. Removing a fuel load does not establish that the vessel is clean or ready for a new product.

Can contaminated petrol and diesel be mixed for disposal?
Keep existing streams identified and do not mix them to simplify collection. Existing mixtures must be described accurately.
Will filtering make all contaminated fuel usable?
Some contamination cannot be resolved through filtration. Fuel condition and the actual contaminant determine the options.
Does collecting fuel include cleaning the tank?
Tank cleaning is separate unless expressly included. Liquid removal can leave sludge and other residues.
Can sludge remain after liquid fuel is pumped out?
Yes. Settled material may need a separate cleaning or recovery method.
Does fuel removal decommission the tank?
No. Decommissioning is separate work requiring its own agreed scope and controls.
